We didn’t quite feel like we were in Malaysia, but rather in a place where history and tradition come alive.

#1 Experience the Boat Rides at Tasik Cermin (Mirror Lake)

Tasik Cermin, or Mirror Lake, is a hidden gem located just a short drive from Ipoh's city center. The lake is divided into two sections, each offering a unique experience:

Tasik Cermin 1: Begin your journey by walking through a 120-meter-long tunnel, leading you to a serene boat ride. This experience allows you to fully appreciate the tranquil beauty of the lake, surrounded by towering limestone formations.

Tasik Cermin 2: Alternatively, embark on a boat ride that passes through a dark tunnel, adding an element of adventure to your visit. Both rides culminate at an old mining site, offering breathtaking views and excellent photo opportunities.

Operating Hours and Ticket Pricing:

Hours: Daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (last admission at 5:30 PM).

Tickets: RM25 for adults (13 years and above) and RM18 for children (12 years and below). Prices are subject to change; it's advisable to check the official website for the most current information.

Ipoh is renowned for its array of cave temples nestled within its limestone hills. Two of the most notable are:

Kek Lok Tong Temple: Known as the "Cavern of Ultimate Bliss," this temple features a vast cave with intricate carvings and a serene garden.

Adventure Tip: At Perak Cave Temple, embark on a 20-minute hike to the mountain's summit. The trail is steep and involves numerous stairs, so ensure you're wearing comfortable footwear and carrying water. During our visit around 3:30 PM, access was restricted, but after inquiring at the entrance, we were permitted to proceed with the condition of returning by 4:30 PM. If you arrive later in the day, don't hesitate to ask about access; flexibility may be possible.

#3 Wander Through Ipoh's Charming Old Town

Ipoh's Old Town is a delightful blend of colonial architecture, vibrant street art, and bustling markets. A highlight is the Concubine Lane, a narrow alley lined with quaint shops, cafes, and historical sites. Exploring this area provides insight into Ipoh's rich history and cultural heritage.

#4 Visit the Ipoh Night Market (Gerbang Malam)
