3 Days, 2 Nights in Komodo: Our EasyKomodo Liveaboard Experience

There are trips you remember — and then there are the ones that change how you see travel. Our 3-day, 2-night Komodo Island tour with EasyKomodo.com aboard the Soe Besar Vanrei was exactly that. Three days of sailing, snorkeling, and waking up surrounded by turquoise water — with nothing to worry about but enjoying the moment.

This wasn’t a luxury cruise — it was something better: an authentic, comfortable adventure through one of Indonesia’s most beautiful marine parks.

Booking & The Boat: Soe Besar Vanrei with Easy Komodo

We booked our Komodo liveaboard through EasyKomodo.com, and from the first message to the last wave goodbye, everything was seamless.

🗓 Book early! Especially if you want a private room or a certain boat standard — the best options fill up fast, particularly in high season (May–September). Departures on every Monday and Friday.

Our boat, Soe Besar Vanrei, is a traditional phinisi-style wooden vessel — simple but spacious, with clean cabins, comfortable beds, and a top deck perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset drinks.

The crew was amazing: attentive but never overbearing. The food was fresh and plentiful — homemade Indonesian dishes, tropical fruits, and fresh fish after every snorkeling session. For three days, we didn’t have to plan or think about a single thing.

And unlike some tours in Southeast Asia, there were no hidden stops or forced shopping detours. Everything felt genuine, natural, and well-organized.

The Experience: Three Days of Ocean, Islands, and Wildlife

Each day brought a new shade of blue and a new surprise under the water.

On our first day, we snorkeled at Manta Point and got unbelievably lucky — two giant manta rays appeared beneath us, gliding effortlessly in slow circles. Later that day, we swam with blacktip reef sharks, spotted turtles, and ended the evening watching dolphins chase our boat through the waves.

The next morning, we climbed Padar Island for sunrise — probably the most iconic view in Komodo National Park. The light slowly revealed the curved bays and jagged green ridges, each beach glowing in a different color.

We also stopped at the Pink Beach for sunset, where the sand really does shimmer in pastel rose tones.

At Komodo Island, we finally met the famous Komodo dragons — prehistoric and impressive, guided by local rangers.

And on our final evening, anchored near Kalong Island, we watched hundreds of flying foxes rise into the orange sky at sunset.

Itinerary: What We Did in 3 Days and 2 Nights

Here’s the full route we followed — a perfect mix of snorkeling, hiking, and island-hopping. The itinerary we received beforehand was actually in a different order, but our boat guide explained that he adjusts the route based on the weather and the crowds to make sure everyone gets the best experience.

Day 1

  • Sebayur Island – First swim, calm waters, beautiful corals

  • Manta Point – Two manta rays, blacktip sharks, turtles

  • Pink Beach – Sunset and relaxing on rose-colored sand

Day 2

  • Padar Island – Sunrise hike to the viewpoint

  • Komodo Island – Komodo dragons and guided walk

  • Makassar Reef – Coral gardens and colorful fish

  • Strawberry Rock – Flexible time on the boat, walked on the pink rock

  • Kalong Island – Sunset with thousands of flying foxes

Day 3

  • Manjarite Island - last beautiful snorkelling with many turtles

  • Kelor Island - Trekking on the hills to see the whole island from the top, swim with sharks

Avoiding the Crowds

Yes, Komodo can get crowded, especially at Padar Island and Pink Beach. But our guide planned our route perfectly, often shifting times to avoid the biggest groups. It made a huge difference — we often found ourselves alone at snorkeling spots where other boats had already left.

If you can, choose a tour company that values timing and sustainability over rushing through a checklist. Easy Komodo did that exceptionally well.

Why We Loved It

  • Stress-free: everything from meals to park fees was organized.

  • Authentic: no forced detours, just real moments.

  • Comfortable: clean cabins, plenty of shade and space to relax.

  • Delicious food: generous meals, fresh ingredients, always on time.

  • Wildlife encounters: manta rays, sharks, turtles, Komodo dragons, dolphins — all in three days.

We came back with salty hair, hundreds of photos, and a deep sense of calm.
